Business community vows support for Iloilo infra plans

The business community committed their support to the infrastructure investment priorities of the city and province of Iloilo during the "Infrastructure Summit: Partnership for better infrastructure" on Wednesday in Iloilo City.

The infrastructures investment priorities were presented to the business community and political leaders of Iloilo, including Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., Iloilo City Rep. Jerry TreƱas and Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.

Leah Lara, executive director of Iloilo Business Club, said the business community is glad that there is now a concrete plan on the various infrastructure projects that are intended for Iloilo.
Lara said some of the infrastructure projects include high impact roads, irrigation system and river rehabilitation, an IT park and hospitals.

She said the summit also aims to present the various proposed infrastructure projects and priorities for the province and city in the next three years.

Lara said most of the priority projects are now assured with funding from the national government, while some are being offered for possible public-private partnership.

She added the summit is hoped to attract more infrastructure investors to Iloilo and the rest of the region.

The summit was hosted by the Iloilo Business Club in collaboration with the Research, Education and Institutional Development Foundation Inc., the Asia Foundation, and the United States Agency for International Development.

The summit is part of the IBC’s celebration of its 20th anniversary.
