Wanted: Border an Award - Winning Ilonggo Film

The Ilonggo comedy horror film Wanted: Border (spelled as is intentionally) starring the versatile star Ms. Rosanna Roces raked most of the top awards in the recently concluded 2009 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival. It has swept 7 awards namely: Best Picture (with a cash prize of P200,000); Best Director and Best Screenplay for Ray Gibraltar; Best Cinematography for Ogi Sugatan; Best Music for Erwin Romulo and Malek Lopez; Best Production Design for Alf Alacapa, Winston

The KAPIDECO Estate

The Kauturan Pison Development Foundation Corporation (KAPIDECO) is set to transform the massive land area in Mandurriao that used to be Salt Beds into a city within a city. They envisioned the area to be the location of the mid rises in Iloilo with buildings for offices and for the growing IT industry. There would be hotels, schools, retail arcades and workplaces as planned. Ateneo de Iloilo new Campus that stands on KAPIDECO and has been given at least 1 hectare of land donation is near completion. Lex has 90 godchildren in just three years

Councilor Lex Tupas who is now on his second term as a local legislature, has made another mark for having the most number of godchildren in a span of three years.

This is because of his project, “Bunyag sa Syudad”, a yearly free christening of children from different barangays in Iloilo City.

Ilongga is COPS 2010 awardee

An Ilongga was named one of the Top 10 Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service or COPS for 2010 by the Metrobank Foundation.

PO3 Shella Mae Sangrines, chief of complaints and investigation section of the Regional Women and Children Protection Desk at Camp Delgado, Iloilo City, was declared one of the winners of COPS in the police non-commissioned officers category.

She will receive a cash prize of P250,000 and a trophy to be awarded by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III during a ceremony at Malacañang on August 31.

Kalantiaw Code

Laws are said to be the measure of a nation's civilization. Greece, Rome, China and Egypt could not have built their great civilizations without an edifice of laws to govern their people.

Long before the Spaniards planted the seed of Western culture in the Philippines, the native Filipinos had already evolved their own rules of behavior based on their customs, traditions and beliefs. Two of these are now part of our historical heritage-the Maragtas Code, drafted in 1250 A.D. and the Code of Kalantiaw, believe to have been written in 1443 A.D.
