A “twinning relationship” between Iloilo City and Yulin, China will be realized soon.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, together with Public Employment Service Office manager Alan Zaldivar, will visit Yulin on October 21 to 23 to finalize the pact between the two cities.
Being “sister city” with Yulin involves a cooperative agreement to promote cultural and economic link.
“As their first beneficiary of sisterhood, they are asking if we can send workers to their city to be employed in factories and as English teachers,” Mabilog said.
He said Yulin officials specifically asked him to bring the PESO manager so they can discuss the possible jobs and corresponding hiring process.
Yulin, a city on southeastern Guangxi province, is noted for its rich natural resources, cultural heritage and beautiful scenery.
Mabilog said they got interested in the city when he went to Beihai, China in August for a four-day economic conference.
He made a presentation about Iloilo City’s economic and development plan, and major festivals like Dinagyang, Paraw Regatta and Chinese New Year.
